• April Masterworks, Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, featuring narrator Henry Winkler
Friday, April 27, 2018
We’re going hunting with two masterworks sure to please audiences both young and old – each featuring themes of forest hunting. Renowned actor and producer Henry Winkler narrates Sergei Prokofiev’s classic fairy tale Peter and the Wolf, one of the most-performed classical works in history.
Winkler, best known for his television role as Arthur “The Fonz” Fonzarelli on the smash television series Happy Days, is also an author and activist for several children’s causes including dyslexia research. In 2011, he received the Order of the British Empire for his work with children who have special educational needs.
Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4, Romantic, is a symphonic tour de force and one of the most popular works from the Romantic period. Featuring winds and especially brass, this work programmatically describes hunters and woodland scenes in 18th-century Europe. Tally-ho!
