Become a Friend of the Philharmonic

Lunch at Tower of London 2 small

You can support the Philharmonic by becoming a Friend of the Philharmonic. The purpose of the Friends is to maintain and create interest in and support for the UMW Philharmonic Orchestra and to attract funds that will allow the Philharmonic and its affiliated activities to grow and be successful.
The generous donations of our “Friends of the Philharmonic ” make it possible for us to fund student scholarships to orchestra members. Last year, over $45,000 in scholarships were given to deserving students.  The Friends support outreach programs, like the Fiddlestix Instrument Petting Zoo and the Orchestra’s international performances, bringing new audiences to hear the musical talents of the orchestra
The donations of the Friends also help bring the outstanding artists that have appeared with the orchestra.  Funds coming from the Friends were instrumental in supporting the production of the PBS Special “A Fiddler’s Holiday”.  In 2013, the Friends helped to bring Itzhak Perlman in our annual Celebrity Series.  In 2014 the orchestra performed with Broadway’s Michael Feinstein, thanks to the generous donations of the Friends, and last year we hosted tenor José Carreras, violinist Joshua Bell, and Argentine conductor Lucia Zicos. This year, the Friends will help bring Tony Bennett, Kristin Chenoweth and Eric Ruske to Dodd Auditorium. With the help of the Friends of the Philharmonic, we will continue to bring outstanding classical music to the Fredericksburg community!
